An Abbots Langley father who lost his wife after a battle with cancer is hosting a barbecue to raise funds for a leading cancer charity.

Malcolm Horne, 42, is hosting a barbecue at his Gable Close home this Saturday at 2pm to raise money for Cancer Research UK.

Lydia Horne, lost her battle with cancer in 2009 aged 32.

There will be a raffle on the day, with prizes including a free MOT at an Abbots Langley garage and a free meal at Abbots Tandoori.

Mr Horne said: "A lot of my friends are doing the Race for Life for Cancer Research UK, but I can’t do that because I have Multiple Scerosis. At the moment, they are doing a big promotion for people to hold a barbecue and I can do that.

"I just want to give something back to Cancer Research UK, because I lost my life to cancer and it is my way of saying I can beat cancer because the effect it had on me and my boy was unbelievable."
