Crowds gathered at Bushey Horticultural Society’s annual show at the Community Centre on Saturday.
Once again the main trophies for flowers went to the Parker family from Hemel Hempstead. This year it was Julie Parker collecting the silverware, including the award for the best horticultural exhibit for her dahlias.
However it was Bushey growers Ian Brooks who took the specialist awards for fuchsias, and Gloria Cottom who showed the best roses and planted containers.
Lawrence Stone was the most successful exhibitor in the vegetable section, while his four-year-old twins, Eva and Alex, were keeping up the family tradition with plenty of prizes in the children’s section.
Pam Rivers, the show secretary, retained her trophy for best floral art exhibit, and this year’s top cook in the domestic event was Phyllis Crampton.
