The owner of a beautiful one month old pony who was stolen from a stable in Aldenham "just wants him brought home."

Hertfordshire Constabulary was called last Friday after Cecil, a one month old Shetland pony, was stolen from a stable in Summerhouse Lane on Thursday.

Julie Blake, Cecil’s owner said: "These animals mean the world to me. Anyone who knows me knows how much I love these horses.

"They are so beautiful, so children just love them. People who are driving past and see them sometimes pull over and come and have a look at them.

"I’m in absolute despair. The only way I can explain how I feel is despair. I think the only thing I would like to say is bring him home."

However, police are investigating the theft and officers have asked anyone with any information to contact them.

Olivia Finucane, spokesman for Hertordshire Constabulary said: "We are still looking for someone in relation to this incident.

"Our investigations are continuing and we are asking anyone with any information to get in contact."

Cecil is around 18 inches tall, coloured red and white and one of his eyes is a distinctive blue colour.

The 54-year-old mother of two told the Watford Observer that Cecil’s mum and dad, Tweeny and Percy, had been looking for the foal in the field where he went missing.

She added: "They keep going back to the stable as though they are looking for him.

"She is still looking for him and Percy is just being so protective.

"He is acting like there is something threatening him, but there is nothing there. It must be what has happened has affected him."

Ms Blake and groups of volunteers have regularly searched nearby fields, parks and ditches and have placed leaflets all across the area, as well as setting up a Facebook page to help organise the search.
