Arriva bus service times will be changing from next week.

Bus routes and time schedules will be altered from Sunday onwards, particularly affecting Watford and South Oxhey.

The timetable changes will see the South Oxhey to Watford service altered, with the 503 no longer running and being replaced with Service 8, which will be re-routed.

The main section of the 503 between Watford and Hemel Hempstead will be replaced by extra Service 500 journeys to maintain the 15 minute service between the two towns.

There will also be minor timing or route changes to Service 10 at Watford, the 320 between Hemel Hempstead, Watford and Rickmansworth, the 324 between Kingswood, Watford and Maple Cross.

The changes to the bus services come as Hertfordshire County Council launched a consultation into cutting the subsidies to 52 of the county’s 119 routes.

The council’s consultation could see nearly half of the county’s routes affected, particularly those services which run after 6.30pm, Monday to Saturday and services that run on Sundays.

It's a shame that the 10, 320 and 324 services are diverted from Vicarage Road so early on match days. I understand it's supposed to be 90 mins before kick-off, on police advice, but I've been on the service due at the ground at 1318 that was diverted.

It is a huge inconvenience, especially to those who find walking difficult, and affects not only fans going to the match but hospital visitors. And why are services to be diverted not identified on the timetable? Having walked down Harwoods Road to find Vicarage Road still open, I regularly have to tell people at the bus stop that they are waiting in vain, and where they have to go to catch a bus.

The best you can hope for is that the services get taken over by another provider. Since Sullivan have taken over the 306 it's get so much better. Times are always there or thereabouts and the drivers are helpful.
