A betting shop assistant from Watford brought Cheryl Fernandez-Versini to tears after she gave a "captivating" performance on The X Factor on the weekend.

Amy Connelly walked into The X Factor studios and stunned judges with her rendition of With You.

The 25-year-old made it to the judges' houses in 2008 but did not progress through to the live finals after she forgot her words while she was singing to Cheryl.

However this time nerves did not seem to faze her and she received unanimous approval from the whole panel.

Cheryl said: "That was really beautiful. It was captivating."

She added: "Honestly, this is like a flashback for me. It’s something that you do to me. We just have a connection and I’m so proud of you. I’m proud of the fact that you came back. You stood there with confidence and poise and you delivered a song beautifully and I’m just so happy to see you."

Amy received similar praise from the other judges and has gained a place in the next round.
