A betting shop assistant from Watford brought Cheryl Fernandez-Versini to tears after she gave a "captivating" performance on The X Factor on the weekend.

Amy Connelly walked into The X Factor studios and stunned judges with her rendition of With You.

The 25-year-old made it to the judges' houses in 2008 but did not progress through to the live finals after she forgot her words while she was singing to Cheryl.

However this time nerves did not seem to faze her and she received unanimous approval from the whole panel.

Cheryl said: "That was really beautiful. It was captivating."

She added: "Honestly, this is like a flashback for me. It’s something that you do to me. We just have a connection and I’m so proud of you. I’m proud of the fact that you came back. You stood there with confidence and poise and you delivered a song beautifully and I’m just so happy to see you."

Amy received similar praise from the other judges and has gained a place in the next round.

Wow, all those years in education so that you could get a job as a journalist reporting (five days after the fact) that someone was on some TV program last weekend.

I see the journos are allowed to register their own views on peoples comments! Minus 4, but no one commented disagreeing with what I wrote. I dont mind not being agreed with, but at least give a reason why.

And just to clarify I was knocking the journalistic standard at the WO not the contestant who despite appearing on a show that I dont particularly like I wish well on her, ahem, journey through it

Another minus from another journo or silent critic.

If it is a journo shouldnt you be doing your job, ie looking at other media outlets and seeing what stories you can take from them?

Ah, the quality of your arguments have just blown me over and I concede I was wrong. NOT.

How old are you two? I've heard better retorts from toddlers, but still it doesnt suprise me that you think the height of journalism is someone reporting what happened on Xfactor several days after it aired
