A second cat has been found beheaded in north Watford.
The cat was found by veterinary staff at a practice in St Albans Road about 4pm yesterday.
The cat's body was discovered without its head, which has not been found.
Two weeks ago a grey tabby was found beheaded in a back garden less than one mile away from this second incident.
Officers will be fully investigating the incident and are considering any possible links to a previous incident in Westfield Avenue where a cat was found dead on August 17.
Sergeant Adam Wills said: "At this stage we need to establish the exact circumstances of what has happened to the cat.
"Understandably this incident will cause a great deal of distress to the owners and I appeal to anyone with any information about what happened to contact police straight away."
Anyone with any information in relation to this incident is asked to contact Sergeant Adam Wills via Hertfordshire Constabulary non-emergency number 101.
