More than 250 entries were on show at Bovingdon and District Horticultural Society’s autumn show last weekend.
Displays of dahlias, fuchsias and floral art took centre stage at Memorial Hall, in Bovingdon High Street on Saturday afternoon as villagers turned out to take part in the society’s biggest show of the year.
A number of prizes were also handed out at the event, which also featured fruit and vegetables exhibits, cooking and homemade wine displays.
Prizes for the village hanging basket competition were also presented, with the Hospice Shop for St Francis claiming the top prize of a bottle of champagne.
Dubbed Bovingdon’s own bake off, Vivien Gabriel rose to glory by claiming the Horwood Bakery Cup with a plum cake entry.

All day roofing cup- most points for fuchsias - Ron Smith
Outspan cup - best exhibits in other flowers - Julie Parker
Bovingdon horticultural society bowl - most points for floral art - Mavis Lawrence
Horwood bakery cup - best cake - Vivien Gabriel
Copse hill challenge cup - most points for preserves and cooking - Mavis Lawrence
Eva Stone cup - best exhibit for homemade drinks - Mike Leon
Junior cup - most points for children’s exhibits - Polly O’Donnell
