The Watford-based punk music band Gallows has donated a PlayStation and a top of the range Sony mobile phone to the charity Peace Hospice Care.

Formed in 2004, Gallows have gone from performing in local pubs to headlining worldwide stages, gaining a massive following along the way.

During recent gig in Hyde Park, London, they were presented with the electronic items and they decided to donate them to a good cause.

Gallows founder member and lead guitarist Laurent Barnard, known as Lags, is a former pupil of Watford Grammar School and he had no doubts that he wanted the gifts to go to his local hospice charity.

Laurent said: "'I am a big fan of Peace Hospice Care.

"I regularly shop for vinyl in the South Oxhey store and have also found some great vintage clothes in the hospice charity shop.

"It was a bit hard to let the PlayStation go. It would have been easy to keep it for ourselves but we wanted to give something back to where we are from."

Gallows have also used their musical muscle to support Rock against Racism and the cancer charity Marie Curie.

While their fans await the forthcoming release of their new album "Desolation Sounds", Peace Hospice Care will be awaiting a perfect opportunity in the near future to auction or raffle the donated goods.

Peace Hospice Care Director of Fundraising, Ropinder Gill said: "This is a great donation and we thank Gallows for their support."
