The Local Government Boundary Commission has suggested changing the names of two wards in Watford in a new consultation - but mixed up West Watford and north Watford.

The commission has proposed Callowland Leggatts be named West Watford instead and Holywell Vicarage be changed to north Watford in it's new report.

The report said: "We are, however, adopting different names for some of Watford’s divisions, in order to make the division names more reflective of their communities.

"Callowland Leggatts will be named West Watford, Central Oxhey will be named Central Watford and Oxhey, and Vicarage Holywell will be named North Watford."

The report does not suggest any changes to the division boundaries in Watford.

The consultation period for the public to respond will continue to November 3, following which the final recommendations will be presented to Hertfordshire County Council to consider.

The commission has apologised for the gaffe saying it had got north and West Watford the wrong way round.

Marcus Bowell, communications and public affairs manager for the commission, said the mistake has now been rectified on their website and invited people to comment on the consultation.

He said: "The only changes to Watford borough we are suggesting is name changes as a simplification.

"We are proposing Callowland Leggatts be north Watford and Holywell Vicarage be West Watford.

"We apologise for a mistake in the first draft of the consultation, which had north Watford and West Watford the round way round. That has now been changed on our website.

"We invite people to have their say and comment on the consultation."
