A man has been taken to St Mary’s Hospital in London after being rescued from a canal by a member of the public this morning.
The London Ambulance Service were called to Summerhouse Way, Harefield, at 7.23am this morning after reports that a man in his 40s was in the canal.
But emergency services confirmed that the man was rescued by a member of the public who was passing by.
Andrew Dawson, spokesman for Hertfordshire County Council said: "It looks like a man was rescued from a canal by a member of the public. Our staff administered first aid at the scene."
Hertfordshire Fire and Rescue were also called just after 7.30am and went to Springwell Lane, Rickmansworth and administered first aid on arrival.
The man has been taken to St Mary’s Hospital "as a priority".
