Children and and staff a nursery at Watford Junction have raised £150 for charity as part of its 20th birthday celebrations.

The Co-operative Childcare nursery held a birthday party and fun day for local people to celebrate two decades of childcare.

Fun activities such as a guess the baby competition, cake sale and tombola helped raise the cash for Teenage Cancer Trust, which is The Midcounties Co-operative’s charity partner.

Money raised by The Co-operative Childcare throughout the year will be added towards the society’s fundraising target of £400,000.

Decorating party hats helped to get the children in the birthday party spirit, and staff reminisced about the history of the nursery site with parents and local people who were invited to the celebrations.

Manager, Sarah Hurn, said: "We wanted to do something fun to mark the nursery’s 20th birthday and the event was a great way to involve local people in our celebrations. The children had a lot of fun on the day and people were very generous, helping to raise money for a wonderful cause."
