Police are appealing to a member of the public who is believed to have intervened following an incident in Watford last night.
At about 10.20pm officers were called to Marlborough Road after reports a man had been threatened by an offender who had a stick and a knife.
The victim is alleged to have been able to remove the knife from the offender with the assistance of a member of the public before running off. No one was injured during the incident.
It is thought the victim and offender had been involved in a verbal altercation at a house nearby prior to this incident.
Detective Sergeant Andy Wiseman is investigating and said: “I would appeal to the man who intervened to assist the victim to contact me urgently as he will have information which could prove vital to the investigation.
“This incident occurred quite publicly in the street and I am confident there would have been other people who were around who have not yet spoken with officers, who may also have seen what happened. If this was you, please contact police.”
A 31-year-old man from Watford has been arrested on suspicion of affray.
Anyone with information is asked to contact the Herts Police non-emergency number 101 quoting reference number 973 of September 19. Alternatively call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111. You could be entitled to a reward.
