The League of Friends of the Watford Hospitals is holding its Annual General Meeting on Monday, October 20, and will celebrate the first anniversary of the re-opening of the Tea Shop and Tea Bar.

League members raised funds and recruited volunteers to reinstate the Tea Shop and Tea Bar.

They also raised money to buy a portable ultrasound scanner, which will be used in support of the critical care unit.

Other funds were used to provide a garden area for the hospital's Dementia Unit. This was opened officially in early July, and a group of volunteers visited the garden recently.

League secretary Margaret Hudson said: "While it has been a good year since we re-opened our facilities, there is a continuing shortage of volunteers.

"If anyone is interested in becoming a volunteer, we would be pleased to see you at the AGM."

The meeting will be held at 7.30pm in the outpatients' waiting area, level 2, Watford General Hospital.

All those interested in the League of Friends, or in becoming a volunteer, will be welcome at the meeting, or they can contact Margaret on 01923 221906.
