A fault in the power network has left more than 200 homes and businesses in north Watford without electricity this morning.

UK Power Network said power has now been returned to 193 customers following the fault in the underground electricity distribution network at about 9.15am.

A further 17 customers had power restored at 10.39am with the final customer back on at 10.52am.

James Barber, spokesman for UK Power Networks, said: "A fault developed on the underground electricity distribution network at 9.16am today affecting 211 customers. Engineers restored supplies to 193 of those at 10.27am.

"We appreciate how difficult it can be to lose power and would like to apologise for the inconvenience caused by this incident."
