Twenty rabbits - some just days old - were left in cardboard boxes outside a Watford vets practice.

The rabbits were found on Friday morning outside the Pets At Home store in Century Retail Park.

Vet Emily Cross, who runs Vets4Pets inside the store, said there were a mix of adults and babies, some just a couple of days old.

She said: "They were left in a collection of boxes. We are frantically trying to find homes for them all. All the adults will be vaccinated and neutered.

"We would discourage people from just abandoning their pets. There is help available.

"If these hadn’t been found as soon they had it could have been more serious - especially for the babies.

"Anyone interested in taking one of the rabbits can phone us to make an appointment to come and see them."
