Staff from TJX Europe’s head office in Clarendon Road, Watford, are celebrating ten years of partnership with Cancer Research UK and the Give Up Clothes for Good campaign.

During the past decade, the retailer has raised £17.7 million with £13.2 million already funding research into children’s cancers.

To mark the milestone and Children’s Cancer Awareness Month, Cancer Research UK has released new statistics revealing the rate of children dying from cancer has dropped by 22 per cent.

Give Up Clothes for Good is the UK’s biggest charity clothing collection and since launching this year’s campaign back in February TJX Europe has already raised £4.1 million pounds through customer donations and associate fundraising.

TK Maxx is now the biggest corporate supporter of research into children’s cancers in the UK.

To mark 10 years of working with Cancer Research UK, TK Maxx will fund the UK’s participation in an international children’s cancer trial to improve survival for children and young people with a type of brain tumour called ependymoma.

These tumours are often aggressive and difficult to treat and better therapies are urgently needed to improve survival and quality of life for young people and their families affected by this devastating disease.

Louise Koser, TJX Europe Managing Director said: "We are delighted to have played a part in making such a positive difference to research into children’s cancers over the past decade.

"We are very proud of this long term partnership and to have reached this milestone together."

The Give Up Clothes for Good campaign will run until the year. To help, fill a bag of unwanted clothes, accessories and quality homeware and drop it off at TK Maxx in St Albans Road, Watford.
