A former homeless man from Watford has moved into a new flat in the centre of town.
Five years ago Chris Betts was living on the streets, but has since been helped by Herts Young Homeless and New Hope House to move into supported lodgings and volunteer four days a week in an electrical repair shop.
Finally, Chris has been able to move into his new home and now has the independence he always dreamt of having.
Chris has also been given a new washing machine through the help of Friends of HYH, which supports the charity by attending local community events to raise funds and awareness.
Chris said: "If I didn’t have the support from HYH I would almost certainly be back on the streets, they are an inspiration."
The project is supported by funding from The Big Lottery. If you would like to know more about hyh and what they do to support the homeless then please check out their website at http://www.hyh.org.uk/.
