A new Abbots Langley Tough Ten trophy to remember villager Emily Mott has been officially awarded to one of her close friends.

Emma Baldwin was presented with The Emily Mott Millennium Trophy - a tribute to Emily who sadly died in February this year after a two-year battle with a rare form of bone cancer - on Friday, October 10 at Parmiter's School.

The cup, sponsered by Parmiter's, where Emily attended, is to be presented each year to the first female over the line in the Abbots Langley Tough Ten who was born in the same year as Emily, 2000.

Emily's mum, Jacqui Mott and another one of Emily's close friends, Hannah Livingston presented Emma with the cup.

Emily will also be able to choose a charity to which the Tough Ten will donate £100.

Kevin Brown of the Abbots Langley Tough Ten committee said: "Emily was a very positive young lady who even when she was having treatment for cancer she still thought of others by making jewellery to help raise money for a children's cancer charity.

"We hope that this cup, which was kindly sponsored by Parmiter's, will inspire people to help others, as this is what the Tough Ten is all about - the community coming together to help those who need it."
