Twelve students from a Rickmansworth school joined Hertfordshire’s firefighters for a week as part of their work experience programme.

On Friday teenagers from Rickmansworth supported Hertfordshire Fire and Rescue during a school visit at Rickmansworth Park Junior School and taught five and six year olds about the dangers of making hoax calls.

Chris Hambleton, assistant headteacher at Rickmansworth School, said: "The highlight of the afternoon was when they got a chance to try on the fire fighters’ uniforms and play in the model fire engine."

Miss Shah, year two teacher at Rickmansworth Park Junior School, said: "Year two have been learning about the Great Fire of London and this presentation has really brought the subject to life".

The pupils spent last week with Hertfordshire Fire and Rescue and they were kitted out in fire gear, saw how live emergency calls are dealt with and learned what it takes to become a firefighter.
