Children from Rickmansworth Park, Maple Cross and Chorleywood Primary schools enjoyed exclusive access to expert coaching at the London 2012 legacy venue, Lee Valley Hockey and Tennis Centre, during its first school festival this week.   

The four day event began on Monday at Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park and gave youngsters the chance to take part in tennis and hockey tournaments for free. 

Students were invited from more than 100 primary and secondary schools from every London borough, and throughout Hertfordshire and Essex. 

The event was hosted by Lee Valley Regional Park Authority which owns and runs both venues, and is part of a long standing programme giving schoolchildren opportunities to enjoy sport for free in inspirational surroundings. 

Lee Valley Hockey and Tennis Centre, where the wheelchair tennis took place during the Paralympic Games, is has six outside and four inside tennis courts alongside two international standard hockey pitches. 

Primary school pupils in Years 3 and 4 (seven to nine years old) enjoyed played Quicksticks - a four-a-side taster for hockey, and mini tennis.
