Bottles of champagne, jewellery and electrical goods were stolen during a spate of burglaries in North Watford this week.

A TV and CD player were taken from a house in The Harebreaks between 2.30pm and 9pm on Wednesday, police said.

Computer equipment, champagne and jewellery were stolen from two properties in North Western Avenue and a house in Hare Crescent between 7.40am and 8.40pm on Thursday.

Detective Inspector Jason Keane from the Local Crime Unit at Watford police station said: "These incidents have all taken place during the day and in some cases the offenders were seen by people.

"Since receiving these reports we have stepped up patrols in the area however we'd ask people to help by reporting any suspicious activity to police immediately.

“We will be happy to check any reports out and it could lead to the arrest of the people responsible.

"I'd also ask people to be vigilant and take additional security precautions. Make sure you double lock your uPVC doors and ensure all doors and windows are locked when you leave your house."
