Flooding continues to occur in an Abbots Langley Road despite the county council's attempts to rectify the problem.

Hertfordshire County Council's contractors, Ringway had previously cleared the drains in Chequers Lane in August this year but, after this month's heavy rain, and water running off the fields adjacent to the road, the work appears to have had little effect.

Liberal Democrat Councillor Stephen Giles-Medhurst said: “On numerous occasions cars have not been able to drive down the road and have instead reversed out on to the A405.

“I have raised this with Ringways senior management - this is not good enough.

“Everytime it rains the road floods. A longer term solution is needed and at the very least they need to clear out the blocked drains now not next year."

Kevin Carrol, Ringway Divisional Manager, apologised and urged members of the public to report any flooding.

He said: "Ringway crews previously cleared the gully on August 26 and the next scheduled clean is due to take place in February/March 2015.

"We would encourage members of the public to report any incidents of flooding or debris on the highway through the online fault reporting system at www.hertsdirect.org/highways."
