Intrepid brothers cycled through some of the world’s most historic war memorials to raise money for fallen soldiers.

Jonny Ellis, of Whitehall Road, Harrow, and his older brother Chris Ellis, of west Watford, spent three weeks cycling from London to Berlin for the Royal British Legion.

Their 1,000 mile trip took them along the Western Front battlefields of the First World War, including Dunkirk, Bruges, Ypres, Arras, Sommes, Aisne and Verdun.

They eventually ended up at the historic Brandenberg Gate, in the heart of the German capital, after a tiresome – but “amazing” trek.

During their trip, Jonny, 27 and Chris, 30, camped out under the stars and raised £1,206 for the charity.

They also visited Snow White’s castle, where the famous Walt Disney cartoon film was set.

Chris said: “The hardest bit was climbing a steep hill through Germany and I suddenly felt a bit knackered.

"I think I was lacking Vitamin C, but the trip was incredible and well worth it.”
