A man who was stabbed three times in Watford town centre yesterday has been released from hospital, police said.

The man in his forties was found slumped near a bike rack in Queen’s Road at 2.52pm on Wednesday after being stabbed twice in the upper back and once in the abdomen, officers revealed today.

Natalie Shilling posted on the Observer’s Facebook page that the man collapsed in front of her friend who attempted to help.

She wrote: “Luckily an off duty paramedic came long and stemmed the bleeding with sheets from a charity shop.”

A section of Queen's Road, the pathway, the underpass and Loates Lane were all cordoned off while police investigated for three hours yesterday.

Kelly Fox, who lives in Loates Lane, also posted on the Observer’s Facebook page: “It was just before everyone went to get the kids.

"[Police] blocked the whole road. So scary something like this can happen during the day! It's getting terrible down this road.”

Nicky Williams posted: “What is going on at the moment! Watford is getting so rough!”

The man was discharged from St Mary's Hospital in London this afternoon, police said.

Officers said their investigation was still on-going and no arrests have been made at this time.
