A £10,000 reward is being offered for the whereabouts of Michael McInerney - wanted in connection with the murder of Watford man Prasanna Arulchelvam.

The 32-year-old, of no fixed abode, was arrested last year in connection with the father-of-one’s death but he failed to answer bail and has been on the run from police ever since.

Crimestoppers and the Association of Convenience Stores have teamed up and announced today they are offering £10,000 for information leading to his location, arrest and conviction.

James Lowman, chief executive of ACS, said: "After this horrific crime, we have agreed to make a reward available.

"We hope this reward will help the investigation and bring to justice all those responsible for the murder of Mr Arulchelvam."

Hertfordshire Constabulary re-launched its manhunt for McInerney last week after Patrick and James O’Driscoll were jailed on October 16 for the manslaughter of Mr Arulchelvam.

Southwark Crown Court heard Mr Arulchelvam suffered a fractured skull after he was "forcibly ejected" from a Peugeot van as it sped away from Costco car-park on May 26, 2013.

The 34-year-old shopkeeper jumped in to the vehicle after he saw thieves breaking into his Ford Transit van in Hartspring Lane.

Mr Arulchelvam of Granfield Avenue, Watford, died 11 days later in St Mary’s Hospital, London, from his injuries.

Detective Inspector Scott Winton from the Bedfordshire Cambridgeshire and Hertfordshire Major Crime Unit said: "Despite national coverage and our continued relentless pursuit to trace Michael McInerney, he continues to evade police having failed to answer bail for an extremely serious offence.

"I am urging anyone who may know of his whereabouts to contact police immediately on 999.

"Michael, if you see or hear this appeal, we will find you and it is in your best interests to hand yourself in.

"I would also like to remind anyone who may be providing shelter to Michael - that it is a criminal offence to harbour a criminal wanted by police."

Contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 with any information about the whereabouts of Michael McInerney.

Crimestoppers regional manager Ann Scott said: "This was an extremely serious offence where a man tragically lost his life.

"Michael McInerney continues to evade police and it is vital that he is found.

"There must be people out there who know his whereabouts and I would urge them to contact us.

"We don’t want to know who you are, only what you know."
