Watford Observer:

BOO!....Happy Halloween & all that, This week I’ve got my monster ranty-pants on. I’ve come to the conclusion that the criteria to get a job dealing with the public must be no brain cells and a diploma in Idiot. British Gas was my first port of call, they’ve become such a nightmare to deal with that my mother, a pensioner…and yes, the one I keep under the floorboards finds it far too stressful, so I’ve taken over.

I’ve taken to emailing them now because phoning is just too unbearable. There’s always that 30 min plus wait where your forced to listen to the same piece of music torturously  played over and over again at a nasty distorted level only  Interrupted by an equally annoying women telling you how you can do most things online  and various other things that you really couldn’t give a hoot about.  All I’ve asked for is a reminder email every quarter; they offer it, so I accepted, but every quarter they forget and I have to ring and remind them to send me a reminder….eh?

Yes exactly, each time they apologise profusely and say the records haven’t been updated and we’re still on reminders by post, double failings then because we don’t receive them either. They’ve now assured me for the fourth time it’s all sorted and come January I will get a reminder…Mmmm

Shortly after sorting this out I received another email from Studio24 the catalogue people, in reply to my email saying that I couldn’t register on their site  Their response was to tell me I just needed to re-register ……huh?  So I wrote back to say that I’d already told them I’d tried to re-register but their site wasn’t allowing it. During our emails going back and forth like a  game of tennis, I lost the contents of the shopping basket three times as “Session timed out” popped up, by which stage It was me that was  rocking back and forth foaming at the mouth….although that could’ve been due to the super minty fresh toothpaste I’d just nipped in the bathroom to clean my teeth with?

Is it just me or has Customer service changed quite dramatically for the worse over the last decade?  Do you have similar problems dealing with Companies? Surely due to the digital age & technology it should be better? As always it will be good to hear your experiences and views , so come share them in comments below.

 Watford Observer:

The week didn’t get much better as I’ve relapsed in health and the M.E has dropped to a worse level than normal but I’d promised to go to a church Supper with a psychic read thrown in. Nice chap, seen him before, but can’t help thinking he’d be better suited to a Carry On film…oo, er, missus.

He started by mentioning my mum and then added “Your Father has passed over & is on the other side” which came as a bit of a surprise really because I’d only been sat in the Café chatting with him & my step-mum over poached eggs on toast two days previously.  And even though I’ve always likened the dysfunction of my family to The Simpsons, I’m sure someone would’ve at least text. I shook my head, and he seemed rather taken back and put out that I  wasn’t co-operating

“No, he boomed,  where is he then?”

I paused at this stage pondering whether to do the panto thing and shout “Behiiiiind you”

But ended up saying “Er…Stevenage”

The only decent spirit that night was the one in a bottle on my table marked Barcadi and along with the chips & cheesecake it made for a good evening.

I used to think I was anti-social but after the events of this week I figure I just don’t like people, although present company not included…..So, hopefully you’ll join me back here next Friday? & as long as I manage to avoid all human contact  it should be a good one.
