Watford draper Mr Alexander Silver, of St Albans Road, who has written an “anthem” to be played and sung for the England Supporters Club, has gone a step further – he has composed one for Watford, called Up, Up the Hornets!
“It ends up with the words ‘Watford victory’” Mr Silver said this week.
With his wife he took the England anthem – “Thousands and Thousands of People” – to England’s training headquarters at Roehampton and Mrs Silver played and sung it for England team manager Alf Ramsey.
Mr Ramsey said he was “very impressed” and hoped the supporters’ club would take it up. The club meets this weekend and if it approves, the song may be printed and given to Wembley crowds.
