A new underwater mural in St Joseph’s Catholic Primary School is already making waves with pupils.
The canteen in the Ainsdale Road school has been transformed into an underwater-themed café, complete with a seascape of brightly coloured tropical fish, coral reef, giant whales and a smiling dolphin. Aquamarine tables and chairs made to look like scales were supplied by the PTA.
Head teacher, Linda Payne, said she wanted to make the canteen somewhere children could take a calming break between lessons.
She added: "Time spent talking and interacting with friends is essential for a child’s social and emotional development and our new ocean-themed canteen provides the perfect environment to do this - it’s both relaxing and inspiring. "
Fleur, 10, said: "It is visually inspiring and it makes me feel like I am under the sea."
