The family of the 19-year-old who was arrested in a counter terrorist raid in Wycombe on Thursday night have been moved  to a “safehouse”, according to community sources.

Police tape was taken down from outside the Desborough Avenue property at about 2pm this afternoon and family members of the teenager - named locally as Yousaf Syed - left the house shortly after.

National media attention has been focused on the terraced house since Thursday night’s arrests, which saw a 19-year-old Wycombe man and three others taken into police custody.

Firearms officers swooped on the property at about 8.45pm on Thursday.

Metropolitan police confirmed yesterday that there are three other addresses in High Wycombe that are being searched.

Speaking of Thursday night’s events, witnesses recall seeing security forces and firearms officers surrounding the house.

One witness, who asked not to be named, was in a house opposite to where the raid took place and recalls hearing women “screaming” as police approached the house.

He said: “I got here at about 10.30pm and the mother would not open the door. There were 40 or more armed officers and I heard the women screaming. All I could hear was screaming.”

Mohammed Khaliel, from Islamix, said: “It was not just police that day... it was other agencies aswell, like the security services.

“It was dark. You could see men in suits inside rummaging. There was a lot of activity going on inside that house.

“You had a lot of people in the community and there was a lot of community chatter, with people saying that something was going on. It would have been a bit later than 8pm.”

Local sources say Mr Syed’s passport was seized about six months ago after he was picked up by the police.

It is understood that the 19-year-old is studying business management at college and that he has three younger siblings.

Some community members have called for a greater amount of police involvement with the Muslim community when executing such warrants.

Mr Khaliel said: “It’s really important that community impact is factored into these types of events. It’s a very high profile investigation.

“We have got a predominantly Muslim area so it made sense for someone to carry out a community impact assessment.”

He added: “Islam is a faith that categorically teaches respect and harmony principles and safeguarding the life and property of others.

“That is embedded in the teachings of Islam, so please don’t associate it with the religion. It should very simply be criminals vs non-criminals.

“Many many high profile arrests and inquiries have stigmatised and tarnished people who were exonerated afterwards and then they find it very difficult to carry on with their lives.”

A 22-year-old-man was also arrested at an address in Hounslow at 8.45pm on Thursday, while a 27-year-old man was arrested in a car in Southall slightly earlier at 8.31pm.

Firearms officers assisted with both arrests, although no shots were fired during the course of the operation.

Another man, 25, was arrested at an address in Uxbridge at 2.55am yesterday morning.

The men were arrested on suspicion of being concerned in the Commission, Preparation or Instigation of acts of Terrorism.

Officers are also searching addresses in Hounslow, Uxbridge, Southall, Greenford and Hayes.

Police are not able to offer any more information at this time.
