Watford’s Armistice Day services were attended by record numbers today.

The service at Vicarage Road cemetery this morning was attended by more than 60 people in the centennial year of the First World War.

Morris Saunders, who conducted proceedings, said it was an "excellent" remembrance of those who gave so much for their country.

He said: "It was such a good turn out, I think because it was the centenary year.

"There must have been a good 60 people there this morning, many paying respects to memories of loved ones. The weather was also kind to us, which does make a difference. It went off excellent."

The service was also attended by chairman of Watford Borough Council, George Derbyshire, the British Legion, the Royal Naval Association, the Fleet Air Arm Association and representatives of the Freemasons.
