A family disco to raise funds for Watford Hospital Radio will be held on Friday, December 19.

The radio station, which is staffed entirely by volunteers, plans to increase coverage to Hemel Hempstead and St Albans in the near future.

Angela Goulder, head of publicity and patient liaison for the station, said: "We facilitate a much needed personal connection which is lacking from individual music devices such as smart phones.

"Our dedicated team make regular ward visits to take patient requests and brighten admissions with the banter which is had on such visits.

"The aim is to spread our services to waiting areas as and when possible over all three sites. And we are currently making plans to celebrate the station's 60th birthday next March."

The venue for the disco has been provided by Croxley Community Centre in Rickmansworth.
Doors open at 7.30pm and the event starts at 8pm.

Tickets are available from http://www.seetickets.com/event/watford-hospital-radio-family-christmas-disco/croxley-community-centre/824637 and cost £5.50 for adults and £2.75 for children under 15.

Watford Hospital Radio team will be holding a stall at the Rickmansworth Christmas Evening on Friday, November 28, from 5-9pm.

They will be located on Rickmansworth High Street playing music and selling exclusive Christmas cards.

Anyone interested in joining the station should visit the recruitment evening to be held at the Watford studios on December 3 from 7.30pm, meeting in the accident and emergency waiting area at Watford General at 7.15pm.
