A well-known children’s author officially unveiled a new classroom at a Rickmansworth primary school on Thursday.

Jeremy Strong attended Rickmansworth Park JMI, Park Road, on Thursday, November 20 and opened the new reception classroom, which was funded by the school and Hertfordshire County Council.

The children’s author spent the day with pupils at the school, and and he told the children about the writing process.

Year five also presented him with their Jeremy Strong inspired stories.

Later that afternoon, Mr Strong opened the new reception classroom in front of parents, staff, both past and present and school governors. 

Emma Peak, year five teacher at Rickmansworth Park JMI, said: "The children had a fantastic day with Jeremy Strong. They were enthralled by his stories and loved hearing about the writing process. 

"Year 5 were delighted to share with him their 'Jeremy Strong' inspired stories. He wrote a 'forward' for the book which they created and this book will be treasured for years to come in our school library.  

"Jeremy Strong said that he had thoroughly enjoyed working with the children and had been particularly impressed by the questions they asked him. He added that he has visited many schools but this had been one of his favourite school visits."

The children’s author wrote a "forward" for the collection of stories written by the pupils and Ms Peak said the book "will be treasured for years to come in our school library".
 
The new classroom will be used for a reception class.
