Police in Hertfordshire are advising motorists not to stop for scammers after a woman was flagged down on the motorway and cheated out of cash.
A 48-year-old woman from Kings Langley was conned out of cash after being flagged down on the anti-clockwise entry slip road at junction 24 on the M25.
The man told the woman he needed to borrow some money to get home and then placed items of jewellery on her passenger seat to keep temporarily until he had repaid her.
He also handed her a business card with details of how to contact him, which turned out to be fake.
The woman then drove to South Mimms services to withdraw the £140 for the man, who followed her in a gold-coloured vehicle driven by another man.
Police describe the main suspect as Asian, aged in his late 20s to early 30s, of a stocky build and around 5ft 8in tall. He had short black hair, was clean shaven and wearing a black jacket, blue jeans and blue Lacoste trainers.
If anyone is approached by men they suspect to be scammers they should contact the police immediately.
Or if anyone spots anything suspicious contact the police on 101.
