A tenant of a Watford housing association has hit out at the trust for not stopping bullying and antisocial behaviour on the estate that led to her attempting suicide.

Kim Whitmarsh, of Longcroft in Oxhey, said she has been "treated like garbage" in her sheltered accommodation for two and a half years.

She complained to Watford Community Housing Trust about the verbal abuse and isolation she endures on the estate, and says they should have done something to help her.

She said she tried to kill herself in 2012 when the bullying started.

But the trust said it is "disappointed" Kim has not been satisfied with their response to her pleas for help.

Kim said she is intimidated and can't walk to the shops on the scheme without experiencing some form of bullying - but the trust let it continue.

She said: "I want this all to stop. I cannot even walk down to the local shops. These people won’t leave me alone.

"I had to change my living room around so I cannot see onto the street.

"I can’t use the communal lounge.

"People congregate and stand by my front door smoking - it’s very intimidating.

"The residents are evil, something needs to be done about it."

Kim said the abuse started when her then boyfriend, another resident on the estate, was sent to prison for sexual assault.

She said: "I suffer from depression, I tried to commit suicide in 2012 when all this started.

"I pay my rent. This is sheltered accommodation, the trust need to do something about everything that goes on here.

"I am being treated like I’m a piece of garbage and this has gone on for two and a half years. They are allowing it to happen."

Tony Lewis, neighbourhood services manager at Watford Community Housing Trust, said the trust is looking to resolve the situation.

He said: "We do our best to support our tenants when they make claims of bullying or harassment from other residents, and we are disappointed that Ms Whitmarsh has not been satisfied with the response we have provided so far.

"We want to work with her to see how we can resolve things and have a meeting booked with her on Friday."
