Staff on Bluebell ward in Watford General Hospital have thanked the Watford masonic lodge for donating more than £400 of gifts to patients.

The Lodge of Light and Honour gave the ward's dementia patients puzzels and model kits with money collected at their regular meetings.

The lodge's charity steward, Martin Abrahams, and lodge member, Colin Stodel, who is also a volunteer at the hospital, handed over the presents.

Lesley Thompson, sister on Bluebell ward, said: "On behalf of the team on Bluebell ward and all of our patients, we would like to say a huge thank you to Martin, Colin and the Lodge of Light and Honour.

"Their support is really appreciated."

Mr Stodel said: "We are delighted to be able to support the doctors, nurses and other staff who do such a great job in looking after the patients on Bluebell ward.

"It’s nice to know our gifts will be put to such good use."
