One of Watford's oldest residents has celebrated her 101st birthday on Monday.

Winifred Frankland, known to those around her as Winnie, celebrated in the home she has lived in for the last 57 years.

Winnie was born is 1913 and has lived through both world wars, she was a piano and accordion player and teacher in her youth and worked for Wedgewood plates and ceramics.

Today, Winnie has a more relaxed lifestyle. She remains independent and goes shopping on a regular basis at her favourite charity shops.

Last year Winnie celebrated her 100th birthday with a surprise party where all her family and loved ones attended.

She had a great time listening to a live band and her family had even managed to sneak in her favourite arm chair to relax in.

Winnie received a telegram from the Queen, a message from Iain Duncan Smith and a card signed by all the Cold Stream Guards celebrating her 100 years which she hangs in pride of place in her living room and shows to all her guests.

Winnie is known for her humour, kindness and loving nature amongst all her friends and family.

She adores the family dog and is looking forward to Christmas dinner and another year of fun and laughter.
