Three Watford schools have been rated ‘Good’ by Ofsted in the latest round of inspections.

Laurance Haines School, in Vicarage Road, maintained its ‘Good’ standard from its last inspection in 2011.

Inspectors reported that pupils leaving the school in year six had standards above the national average, leadership and management of the school is "outstanding" while teaching is good throughout the primary and some is outstanding.

Headteacher James Roach said: "I am very proud of the school. It’s really pleasing the report recognised our pupil’s outstanding learning behaviour, it’s a credit to them and the school.

"Also that the school values and ethos has permeated all aspects of school life.

"We are well on the way to getting an ‘Outstanding’ in our next inspection."

St Catherine of Siena Catholic Primary School, Horseshoe Lane, achieved the ‘Good’ rating in its first inspection as an academy.

The primary was found to have good teaching, strong leadership, a broad and balanced curriculum and it was noted that pupil’s behaviour is outstanding.

Parkgate Infants’and Nursery School, in Northfield Gardens, has also maintained its ‘Good’ rating by Ofsted five years after its last full inspection.

Inspectors found Parkgate had consistently good teaching, pupils achievement is above national averages and that governance has improved.

Andy Taylor, chairman of governors, for the primary said they were "immensely pleased" with the report and that it showed the hard work and dedication of the school’s staff and teachers.

He said: "The Governors are immensely pleased with the 'Good' Ofsted report for our school.

"We feel it accurately reflects the hard work and dedication over a sustained period of time of the head and deputy head, Ann Lawrence and Gwyn Pritchard, and all the staff at the school.

"We hope the school will continue to maintain and raise its standards, progress and achievements over the coming years.

"Most importantly we are very proud of our pupils and of course their parents and carers for their hard work and enthusiasm. Our school has a warm, welcoming, learning environment and the children are the major part of our success."
