To mark the 70th anniversary of the sinking of HMS Aldenham in the Second World War, St John the Baptist Church in Aldenham, will be hosting a memorial service.
HMS Aldenham was a Hunter Class destroyer, which was blown up by a mine in the Adriatic Sea on December 14, 1944. Only 63 crew members survived the attack.
On Sunday at 10am, a special service will be held at the church in Church Lane.
Hertsmere mayor and the Deputy Lords Lieutenant of Hertfordshire, Cdr Tim Hennessy will be present as will those survivors who are still alive.
