Watford's Westfield Academy is all set to honour its past and present students' achievements awith a presentation evening on Thursday, December 18.

The evening, which will include a keynote speech by the Mayor of Watford Dorothy Thornhill, is set to be attended by 140 past and present pupils.

Mayor Thornhill said: "I'm really looking forward to the the awards evening and I’m especially looking forward to talking with the young people.

"It’s great to showcase good things when all too often we only hear the bad." 

Principal Tim Body said the evening will be the highlight of the school calendar, as former students return to collect awards for their excellence in GCSEs and A levels.

Extracts from Westfield's Christmas performance of the musical Grease and clips from the Talent Show will form part of the evening's entertainment.

After Mrs Thornhill has delivered her keynote speech, special guests, Mr and Mrs Perl will present the special award winners prizes.

Clare Martin, guest speaker will follow them, before a formal thank you to staff by the chair of governors, Paul Rosen, and a closing speech by Mr Body.
