Watford FC Ltd - which was the Championship club's ultimate holding company until the Pozzo family took over in June 2012 - has been wound up on a petition brought by accountancy firm MHA MacIntyre Hudson over an undisclosed debt.

At a hearing which lasted just minutes, Watford FC Ltd was one of a long list of companies meeting their final fate.

One of the country’s top insolvency judges, Registrar Stephen Baister made what was described in court as the "usual compulsory order" winding up the company.

The company's affairs will now be handed over to an Official Receiver.

His job will be to do his best to ensure that debts are paid off by selling any assets available and then bringing business to a close.
