St Michael's Catholic High School in Garston has been judged 'Outstanding' by Ofsted inspectors.

Headteacher Edward Conway said staff are "delighted" with the report, which is the fourth consecutive inspection the High Elms Lane school has recieved the highest grade.

Inspectors noted that students make outstanding progress and the vast majority achieve above-average standards in a range of subjects at GCSE, the behaviour of students is outstanding and that teachers have excellent subject knowledge.

Mr Conway said: "It is our belief that the report accurately reflects the school that St Michael’s Catholic High School is and exemplifies what excellent students and staff we have.

"It is testimony to the hard work and commitment of the staff and the students at the school and confirms that the standards achieved by St Michael’s represent a huge professional and personal commitment to the education of young people.

"We would like to thank all of the parents who contributed to the parent view questionnaire and those who wrote letters to the inspection team."

He added: "The school community is proud and grateful for the success and achievements at St Michael’s they are quite rightly mindful of the need to focus on continuous improvement and the on-going development and support for all the young people in our school community. This will always be our aim."
