A spate of window smashing has been taking place in Abbots and Kings Langley, and police investigating are appealing for witnesses.

The latest offences in Abbots Langley take the number of incidents since December 3 to ten, with the total damaged caused thought to be worth around £5,000.

In Abbots Langley, two windows were smashed in Gallows Hill Lane between 10.40am and 11.30am on Saturday, December 13. A third window was targeted in the same street sometime between 1pm on Wednesday, December 10 and midday on Monday, December 15. A window was also damaged in Abbots Road between 11am and 12.30pm on Friday, December 12.

The suspects have been described as three boys, aged about 14 years old. One is described as having short brown hair and was wearing grey jogging shorts and carrying a dark rucksack.

Neil Canning, Safer Neighbourhood Sergeant for Abbots Langley, said: "These are completely mindless acts which have left the victims with the inconvenience of having to replace their windows at a great cost, at a time of year when money is often quite tight.

"The Safer Neighbourhood Team will be carrying out extra patrols in the roads affected."

Over the past week, three properties in Kings Langley have had their windows smashed.

The first incident happened to a property in Watford Road on Friday, December 12 between 3.30pm and 9.30pm. The second occurred between 8pm on Friday, December 12 and Saturday, December 13 in Rockcliffe Avenue. At both these properties one window was broken.

The third incident also happened to a property in Rockcliffe Avenue, between Saturday, December 13 and Sunday, December 14, but this time two windows were smashed.

Anyone with information about any of the incidents is asked to contact Herts Police on the non-emergency number 101, or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
