Police revived a man at a Watford hostel after he suffered a cardiac arrest.
Officers were called to support the East of England Ambulance Service at The Grow hostel in Rickmansworth Road at 11.15am.
An air ambulance also landed near the scene but the man was taken by road to Watford General Hospital.
Inspector Lilley said: “We were called to support the ambulance service and we were here first, and two of our officers performed CPR on a 43-year-old white male.
“They managed to get a pulse and his health has improved so he has been to hospital by the road instead of the air ambulance.”
In total, six police cars and three ambulances attended the hostel.
Insp Lilley said: “It’s an isolated incident which did not involve anyone else so there’s no need for the public to be alarmed.
“This is not a normal response [to a call of this nature] but we had a number of units in the area and we have extra patrols on for the Christmas period.”
Police are still at the scene as they continue their investigation.
Insp Lilley added the cardiac arrest “may have been drug related”.
