Friend Denis Brown, of Wellington Road, said: “I have known Joey McGrath for a few years now. He’s been a neighbour and a good friend over the years. More importantly he is an inspiration as a role model father. On many occasions I have enjoyed listening to him engaging with his kids as they pass my house and I have adopted his care free attitude with my own children.

“At the White Lion we found we had a mutual interest in playing poker. We both belong to the Discovery Poker League. Joey took me under his wing and taught me the game.

“I was horrified to learn about the accident, as was everyone else. He is much loved and very much missed. My thoughts are with him and his family. We all wish him a full and speedy recovery.”
