The Citizens Advice Bureau is set to benefit from a cash boost after being chosen as one of the Three Rivers chairman’s charities this year.

Three Rivers District Council fund three Citizens Advice Bureau’s in Three Rivers, in Abbots Langley, Rickmansworth and South Oxhey.

Last year the three Bureau’s said they handled 19,000 new enquiries, of which 1616 were housing issues, 1342 related to employment queries, 1206 on problems with relationship breakdowns and 7273 needing debt and benefit advice.

Officials said: "Last year alone the 3 CABs handled almost £15 million of debt in Three Rivers, gaining nearly £1 million in extra income for residents."

Marion Seneschall, Chief Executive of Three Rivers Citizen Advice Bureau said: "The most important piece of advice the CAB can offer is to get in touch as early as possible if you have any sort of problem.

"Very often residents leave issues to the last minute and problems then take much longer to resolve.

"Whether you have lost your job, cannot pay your rent or mortgage and live in terror of the next bank statement, or you worry about paying heating bills because of the astronomical rise in prices, the CAB is often the only way you can get any type of help on how you can get some emergency loans or advice.
