Two cars were set alight in a Watford driveway and a property damaged in an early morning arson attack.
A black Ford Fiesta and a white Nissan Note were set on fire at around 3am on Sunday in the driveway of a home in Cherrydale.
Subsequently a window of the property melted and both vehicles were completely burn out.
Police are appealing for witnesses and information following the incident.
Detective Constable Judith Muskett said: "At this stage it is unclear as to how many people may have been involved and I would ask anyone who was in the area to contact me if they saw or heard anything suspicious.
"Thankfully the fire brigade prevented this fire from spreading further, however, thousands of pounds of damage have been caused by these mindless actions.
"If you know anything which could help identify the offender or offenders please call me."
Anyone with any information should contact DC Muskett at Watford Local Crime Unit via the Herts Police non-emergency number 101 quoting crime reference number C1/15/173.
Alternatively call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 55 111.
