The animal rescue charity, National Animal Welfare Trust (NAWT), will be opening it's first charity shop in Watford on Saturday.
Directly elected Watford mayor, Dorothy Thornhill will officially open the shop in New Road at 10.30am.
The charity shop will be raising money for the care and re-homing for animals at the rescue centre in Tylers Way on the A41.
Formerly known as the Hendon and Aldenham Kennels, NAWT has been operating the Bushey centre for more than 40 years and looks after around 500 cats, dogs, guinea pigs and rabbits each year.
NAWT will welcome donations of small second-hand furniture, clothes, books, toys, electrical items, bric-a-brac and any household items. All items can be taken directly to the store or can be dropped off at the rescue centre.
Rescue centre manager, Jackie De Friez said: "January is often a time for declutter so if you are thinking of throwing some bits out then cut the refuse on the landfills and recycle it with the NAWT instead."
Also attending the opening, where there will be free tea and coffee on offer, will be NAWT chief executive officer, Clare Williams, NAWT trustees alongside staff and volunteers.
Opening hours for the charity shop will be Monday to Saturday, 10am to 4pm.
