Firefighters spent more than three hours tackling a chimney fire in Croxley Green on Sunday evening.
Hertfordshire Fire and Rescue was called to a house in Sarratt Road at 6.15pm and found a chimney "well alight".
Tom Shipp, spokesman for Hertfordshire Fire and Rescue confirmed firefighters used a ladder to climb up and extinguish the blaze.
Firefighters stopped using the hose reel at 9.51pm, but carried out further investigations on the chimney at 11.10pm and 3.24am.
One crew from Watford and one crew from Sarratt attended the scene.
The cause of the fire has been marked as "accidental".
