A Croxley Green dinner lady will be battling to become the top school chef in the East of England later today.

Wendy Kemp, of Malvern Way Infant and Nursery School will be cooking up a number of treats to try and impress judges at East of England School Chef of the Year 2015 in Stoke-on-Trent this morning.

The winner of the competition will represent the Eastern region in the national finals in May.

Each competitor will produce a healthy balanced two-course meal comprising of a main course and dessert that would appeal to eleven year olds in school in an hour and a half. Competitors are allowed to spend £1.60 on a single meal for one child.

Ms Kemp will be cooking “Burgers For All” in her main meal entry and “Carribean Sunburst” for her dessert.

On each Regional Final judging panel, there will be a professional chef judge and two 11-year-old pupils from a local Stoke on Trent school and an education catering expert and a leading dietician.
